Guus received his BSc in Chemistry in 2020 from Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven. During his bachelor’s, Guus travelled abroad to the beautiful Vancouver, Canada, for an internship at the University of British Columbia (UBC) under the supervision of prof.dr. Mark MacLachlan. Once returned, he finished his studies with a thesis at the Dutch Institute for Fundamental Energy Research (DIFFER) where he studied all different activation mechanisms in a plasmon-activated chemical reaction under the supervision of dr. Andrea Baldi.
After graduating, Guus decided to pursue a master’s programme in Chemical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), with a specialization in molecular systems and materials chemistry.
In 2022 Guus received his MSc in Chemical Engineering at the TU/e where he did his thesis under the supervision of prof.dr.ir. René Janssen about the effects of low-energy states on the open-circuit voltage in mixed-halide perovskites. He finalized his studies with an industrial internship at Morphotonics B.V in Veldhoven.
Currently, Guus has joined the Molecular Materials & Nanosystems (M2N) group as a PhD candidate under the supervision of prof.dr.ir. René Janssen where he will be working on understanding defects in perovskite thin films and solar cells.
